When asking for corrections on your credit reports always mail it certified, never dispute on line as you have no way of back tracking. A certified letter is the best way sent, you have no way of tracking a phone conversations or doing it on line through a bureau site, keep a copy of the letter and the certification. People think its easy to remove items from your report and its not, remember you going to get the " this debt has been verified and will remain on your report until". Now to me its the run around the standard letter sent back to you, remember they need to prove the debt and how they investigated it, by law that is your right.
There has been times that a bureau will contact the creditor or collection company and they will contact you, but once again they need to prove you owe the debt. I would not even admit the debt then, just ask them to send you all and any information regarding the debt such as billing payments etc, DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION, Collection company's can't always prove the debt so its important to put everything in writing certified.
These things are all important as you may need to back up your claim or claims when sending it to the Consumer Protection Agency if need be. If you need to move further you now have your certified mailings along with the information they sent to you, letters don't lie with proof.
Its important to even send certified letters to creditors asking for settlements or payment adjustments so that nothing changes in the agreement.
Its going to take time its not an over night thing and never let anybody tell you it is.

Lets get ready to explore E-Oscar,
E-Oscar is a web based compliant automated system that enables Data Furnishers (DF) and the credit reporting agencies (CRAs) to respond to different type's of consumers dispute. The agency was created to alleviate the growing amount of manpower needed to process consumer claims of mistakes on their credit report.
The bureau receives a report and a representative enters it into the system, its turned into a 3 digit dispute code. Now the codes can go from.. 001- Not his/her..002- belongs to another individual with same/similar name ..019 include in the bankruptcy of another person and many more. There are 29 different three digits codes that the representatives can choose from which is not always correct.
Once the system E-Oscar receives the data, a formal credit dispute is created. The information is then sent to the data furnishers via an Automated Consumer Dispute Verification ( ACDV) form who supply the credit bureau with your information.
Sometimes as an addition to the codes that best fit the dispute, there is an explanation included. E-Oscar gets the data, the system creates and records a formal dispute, that information is fed out to the other bureaus. Did you know more than one-third or 34% of Americans have found a least one error on their credit report, so you need to pull your report yearly its free. You may as well sign up for one of the services it does cost to see your report but its available to you when you want. And remember if its free you get what you pay for.
Repairing your credit is not easy and there will be set backs but you must forge ahead, it can take months its not done over night. Look for my next post on which letters to be sent out first.
